How it works

From verified asset to permanent retirement.

Every asset on Carbon2O2 travels the same clean, auditable path — acquired, held in digital custody, transferred, tracked, retired, and reported. Here's exactly what happens at each stage, who's involved, and the record that gets written along the way.

01

Acquire

Identify and transact a verified asset

02

Manage

Hold in digital custody with full records

03

Transfer

Move between approved participants

04

Track

Chain-of-custody at every event

05

Retire

Permanent removal, recorded

06

Report

Transparent records for reporting

Before anything moves

Step zero: get approved.

Carbon2O2 is a closed, compliance-screened marketplace. Nothing happens until an organization is onboarded and approved — there is no token to buy and no wallet to install.

01

Submit the onboarding package

Provide entity details, authorized representatives, beneficial ownership and a business profile through the Corporate Participant Onboarding Package.

02

Execute the agreement

Accept the Marketplace Participation Agreement and Marketplace Rules that govern every action on the platform.

03

Pass compliance screening

Identity verification, Know Your Business review, beneficial-ownership checks and sanctions screening where appropriate.

04

Account approval

On approval, your Marketplace account is established and the six-step lifecycle below becomes available to you.

Why the gate exists

Known parties, clean records

A compliance-screened environment is what makes everything downstream trustworthy: no anonymous counterparties, no open order book, and a clear identity behind every transfer and retirement.

Completion of onboarding does not obligate Carbon2O2 to approve participation. Participation remains subject to the Marketplace Participation Agreement, Marketplace Rules, compliance review and final approval by the Company.

The transaction lifecycle

Follow one asset, end to end.

Watch the asset passport on the right fill in as each stage completes — the same transparent record Carbon2O2 maintains for every verified asset on the platform.

Stage 01 · Acquire

Find it, then transact it

An approved participant searches available verified assets, reviews the supporting project information, and submits a transaction request through the Marketplace. Once completed, the participant receives confirmation of the transaction.

The asset is now yours to manage — its origin, registry reference and transaction history attached from the start.

Stage 02 · Manage

Held in digital custody

Holdings sit in digital custody with inventory records, supporting documentation and full asset detail. Participants maintain a live view of what they hold, where it came from, and its current status.

Custody here is administrative and record-keeping — ownership stays with the holder except under a separate written custodial arrangement.

Stage 03 · Transfer

Move it — cleanly

Eligible assets transfer between approved participants only. Every transfer is recorded and screened; there is no anonymous trading and no public order book.

Carbon2O2 may reject, suspend or reverse a transaction on evidence of fraud, sanctions exposure or market abuse.

Approved participants only
Stage 04 · Track

An unbroken history

Chain-of-custody records reflect every movement, transfer and custody event across the asset's life. Where appropriate, participants can access supporting documentation identifying the originating project, applicable registry information and full transaction history.

The history is the integrity. Nothing moves without leaving a trace.

System of record
Stage 05 · Retire

Permanent removal

On participant instruction and satisfaction of applicable requirements, Carbon2O2 facilitates the retirement workflow and records the retirement event with supporting documentation.

Retirement means the asset is permanently removed from active use — counted once, for one owner, and never circulated again.

Participant instruction
Stage 06 · Report

Proof you can hand over

Participants draw on the transparent operational history for sustainability reporting, voluntary emissions strategies and internal environmental accounting — with a clear, documented retirement to point to.

The record that started at acquisition is now a complete, auditable story.

One record, written stage by stage — from acquisition to permanent retirement.

Where the asset comes from

We operate alongside registries. Not instead of them.

Verified environmental assets originate with qualified projects and recognized registries. Carbon2O2 integrates with them to power transparency and workflows — a clear division of roles.

The registry does

  • ?Verifies and certifies the environmental asset
  • ?Issues the asset and maintains its registry record
  • ?Provides the source of truth for the underlying instrument
  • ?Guarantees the asset's environmental integrity

Carbon2O2 does

  • ?Provides the marketplace where approved parties transact
  • ?Maintains digital custody and inventory records
  • ?Records chain-of-custody and retirement events
  • ?Uses registry data to support transparency and workflows

Carbon2O2 does not independently verify or certify environmental assets and relies upon the applicable registry or project documentation for underlying asset verification. Ownership of an asset remains with its holder, purchaser or project developer, except under a separate written custodial arrangement.

What makes it trustworthy

The record is the product's guarantee.

Behind every clean transaction is infrastructure doing quiet work — the reason a Carbon2O2 retirement can stand up to scrutiny.

Digital custody

Every holding is administered as a digital record — inventory, status, provenance and documentation in one place, not scattered across spreadsheets and email.

Chain of custody

Commercially reasonable records reflect asset movement, transfers, custody events and retirement — an unbroken operational history from origin to end state.

Enabling technology

Distributed-ledger tools may support transparency and auditability — as infrastructure beneath the marketplace, never as a product or an investment in themselves.

Two ways to use the flow

Same lifecycle. Different starting points.

Whether you bring assets to the marketplace or take them out of circulation, the operational path is the same — only your entry point changes.
