About Carbon2O2

The infrastructure behind environmental markets.

Carbon2O2 is a technology-enabled marketplace that facilitates the procurement, custody, transfer, inventory management and retirement of verified environmental assets. We connect approved participants with registry-supported assets through secure digital infrastructure — built for transparency, traceability and operational efficiency.

Every digital certificate maps to one registry-supported environmental asset.

Our mission

Voluntary environmental markets are growing fast. The infrastructure underneath them hasn't kept pace.

Environmental assets still move through fragmented systems, manual processes and inconsistent documentation, passing through intermediary after intermediary with little transparency and inefficient retirement at the end.

Carbon2O2 exists to fix that plumbing. Our mission is to improve access, transparency and operational efficiency in voluntary environmental markets through modern technology — a single platform where verified assets can be found, held, moved and permanently retired with a clean, auditable record the whole way.

We complement the registries and project developers who do the environmental work. We don't replace them.

Where we stand

Read this before anything else.

Carbon2O2 adopted a new Regulatory & Marketplace Architecture. The line between what we do and what we don't is deliberate, and it governs every page, contract and workflow.

Carbon2O2 is

  • +A technology-enabled marketplace for verified environmental assets
  • +A provider of digital custody, inventory and retirement workflows
  • +An integrator that operates alongside recognized registries
  • +A keeper of commercially reasonable chain-of-custody records
  • +A compliance-screened, approved-participant environment

Carbon2O2 is not

  • A token issuer, utility token or cryptocurrency
  • A registry — we don't verify, certify or guarantee assets
  • A creator or owner of the underlying environmental assets
  • A broker-dealer, exchange or investment platform
  • A speculative or appreciation-driven marketplace
The model, layer by layer

Assets first. Marketplace second. Technology last.

The order matters. The environmental asset is the product; everything Carbon2O2 builds sits underneath it to make it move cleanly. Here's the stack, top to bottom.

The product

Verified environmental assets

Everything begins with a real, verified environmental asset — a carbon credit or similar instrument originated by a qualified project and recognized under an applicable registry. These assets are the product. They carry the environmental integrity; Carbon2O2 simply gives them a better place to live and move.

We rely on the applicable registry or project documentation for the underlying verification. We do not independently verify, certify or guarantee any asset.

The venue

The marketplace

The Marketplace is the platform through which approved participants identify, acquire, hold, transfer, inventory-manage and retire those verified assets. Standardized onboarding, digital records and consistent workflows replace the ad-hoc spreadsheets and email chains the sector runs on today.

Carbon2O2 facilitates transactions and digital custody. Ownership of an asset remains with its holder, purchaser or project developer, except under a separate written custodial arrangement.

The receipt

Digital certificates

To make administration efficient, the Marketplace can generate digital certificates that evidence rights associated with an underlying asset — supporting custody, transfer, inventory management and retirement.

A certificate is a record, not a product. It has no independent value and should never be interpreted apart from the asset it represents. It is not marketed as an investment, a collectible or a store of value.

The plumbing

Enabling technology

Modern digital infrastructure powers onboarding, transaction processing, digital custody, inventory management, reporting and retirement. Distributed-ledger tools may be used to improve transparency and auditability — as supporting infrastructure, never as the product itself.

Blockchain here earns its place only by making custody traceable, transfers clean and retirement provable. Nothing more.

The transaction lifecycle

One asset, six clean steps.

Every verified asset on Carbon2O2 follows the same operational path — from the moment an approved participant acquires it to the moment its retirement is recorded, with a transparent history at every stage.

01

Acquire

An approved participant identifies an available verified asset and completes the transaction through the Marketplace.

02

Manage

Holdings sit in digital custody with inventory records, supporting documentation and full asset detail.

03

Transfer

Eligible assets move between approved participants — recorded, screened, and never anonymous.

04

Track

Chain-of-custody records reflect every movement, transfer and custody event across the asset's life.

05

Retire

On instruction, retirement is facilitated and the event recorded with supporting documentation — permanently.

06

Report

Participants draw on transparent records for sustainability reporting and internal environmental accounting.

Who the marketplace serves

Approved participants only.

Carbon2O2 is a closed, compliance-screened environment. Participation is open to organizations that complete onboarding and accept the Marketplace Participation Agreement and Marketplace Rules.

Corporate purchasers

Enterprises acquiring, managing and retiring verified assets for sustainability initiatives, voluntary emissions strategies and internal reporting.

Project developers

Qualified developers presenting verified environmental assets to approved participants, with inventory administration and transaction support.

Approved registries

Registries whose data supports transparency, chain-of-custody information and retirement workflows on the platform.

Representatives & professional advisors

Authorized representatives and professional advisors coordinating asset acquisition, transfer and retirement on behalf of their clients.

Environmental asset owners

Holders of verified assets seeking efficient, transparent custody and a clean path to transfer or retirement.

Registry participants

Other approved organizations operating within recognized environmental markets and their governance frameworks.

Becoming a participant

Onboarding, not wallet setup.

There is no token to buy and no wallet to install. Access to the Marketplace runs through a standard corporate onboarding process — eligibility, agreement, compliance, approval.

STEP 01

Eligibility review

Submit the Corporate Participant Onboarding Package — entity details, authorized representatives and business profile.

STEP 02

Execute the agreement

Accept the Marketplace Participation Agreement and Marketplace Rules that govern all activity on the platform.

STEP 03

Compliance screening

Identity verification, Know Your Business review, beneficial-ownership checks and sanctions screening where appropriate.

STEP 04

Account approval

On approval, your Marketplace account is established and you can begin acquiring, managing and retiring verified assets.

Completion of onboarding does not obligate Carbon2O2 to approve participation. Participation remains subject to the Marketplace Participation Agreement, Marketplace Rules, compliance review and final approval by the Company.

Governance & trust

Built on documents, not promises.

Marketplace operations run on an institutional governance framework designed for long-term, compliant operation — the same framework referenced across every page of this site.
